About Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club
The Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club (BBRC) is known as The Best Darn Club in the World, with a membership in excess of 120 community-minded individuals. The club was chartered in 1985 and its membership is dedicated to "service above self" and participating in Rotary International's mission to promote understanding, goodwill, and world peace. The vision of the BBRC is to cultivate a dynamic membership that enhances our club values to serve our local and world communities, providing systemic and enduring change. Striding Into Spring with the Bellevue 5K
Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club and Kindering are expecting 1000 or more to participate in this year’s Bellevue 5K.
Bellevue, WA – March 19, 2009 – The Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club (BBRC), with their partner Kindering, are encouraging everyone to stride into Spring on the 26th of April by participating in the Bellevue 5K. The Bellevue 5K benefits Kindering and other youth projects. Kindering provides individualized family-centered early intervention services for children who are disabled, medically fragile, or vulnerable because of abuse or neglect.
This is the third year in which the Bellevue 5K has been supported, and we are expecting a turnout of 1,000 participants this year to build on the success of the prior two years. This flat, fast 3.1 mile course starts and finishes at Bellevue’s Crossroads Park. The route will move through surrounding East Bellevue neighborhoods, before turning back to finish at the park, located at NE 8th St and 164th Ave NE.
We are pleased that many local companies have stepped in to support the Bellevue 5K, including Brooks Sports, Inc., Helly Hansen, Microsoft Corporation, Powell Development Corporation, Lingenbrink, PS, Overlake Hospital Medical Center, and the City of Bellevue. David Bohan from Brooks Sports, Inc., said, “We are very pleased to be supporting the Bellevue 5K on its third anniversary, particularly as it helps encourage a healthy lifestyle and supports the important work of Kindering, as well as other local charities.”
Mimi Siegel, the Executive Director of Kindering, said, “Kindering families, staff and volunteers are eagerly looking forward to the Bellevue 5k Walk/Run. It will be such a fun and healthy event, and we are thrilled that the course centers on Crossroads Park, our neighborhood jewel.” Mimi Siegel further added, in gratitude for the BBRC’s work to organize the Bellevue 5K Run/Walk, “Thank you, Bellevue Breakfast Rotary, for supporting Kindering so generously and calling attention to the importance of early intervention for infants and toddlers with special needs.”
BBRC’s President, Jenny Andrews, further says, “Without the support of our sponsors, the Bellevue 5K participants and those other volunteers who assist on the sidelines, we would not have been able to enjoy the success of this event over the last two years. We are determined and excited to make the third annual Bellevue 5K our best event ever!”
